The Terminators - Forever Dis (12'') 1986

The Terminators, who were originally Frost B. and DJ Polo, first surfaced early in 1986. Back in January of 1986, Marley Marl played Run-DMC's "Together Forever" on the Mr. Magic's Rap Attack Radio show. Immediately following that record, Magic dropped the demo tape version of "Forever Dis" on the air as one of his famous "World Premiers". He would do this for a few weeks. I did seek out "Forever Dis" only to discover it was a Demo Tape. Later that year, in the summer, Marley would debut a new track on the radio show, this time it was the track "Polo". I was able to find that record in the store now, but I was suprised to find the track "Forever Dis" finally on vinyl! The Terminators would seek Marley Marl for assistance on their second record. Frost B and DJ Polo had a falling out as they were getting ready to do the next demo, so DJ Polo brought in Kool G Rap to rhyme on the track, coincidentally titled "It's A Demo". There is a line in "It's A Demo" that states "We're Walking Tall, We're Called The Terminators..." that backs the theory of Kool G Rap & Polo being called the Terminators, at least in the very beginning when the track was recorded, but then changed before the record was pressed. I'm quite sure someone as talented as Kool G Rap would have dropped a record at some point, but I'm glad Frost jetted when he did, because the rap world needed Kool G Rap, since Rakim, Kool Keith and KRS-One were still new on the scene, and Big Daddy Kane would not yet appear on wax at that time.(according to MentallyMad)

Super Nature - The Show Stoppa (Is Stupid Fresh) (12'') 1985

The group entered hip-hop at a time when rap music was believed to be a fad and record companies were reluctant to sign rap artists. Originally calling themselves as Super Nature (on their first single), James and Denton debuted in 1985 with the single "The Showstopper", an answer record to Doug E. Fresh's hit single "The Show".
"The Showstopper" was produced by Hurby Azor. The song utilized a melody from the 1984 Revenge of the Nerds. The finish recording garnered some airplay on the New York City rap radio program. The Independent Pop Art Records gave it an official release, and "The Showstopper" became a modest R&B hit. (according to oldschoolteachers)

Two Freesh - Mr. Tron (Space-Age-Funk) (12'') 1985

The Original Raw Version of "Mr. Tron" by DJ Juan G were denied from the Label. It had Beats runnin' through a vocoder, now it's lost in time (according to Westcoastpioneers.com)

Tha Swami - Tha Swami Scratch (12'') 1984

The song Tha Swami was the first release on the "On The Spot" label in 1984. It was recorded in a garage with a 4-Track tape recorder. K-Rock G from Brother Supreme did the Rap.

Juan Gibson (Born August 11, 1965) also known as Tha Swami, Mr. Trom and Master Blaster. He's representing Los Angeles/Australia made a name for himself with mixed tapes in the early 80' s. Soon he formed a group called the Funk Army with DJ Antron and created the 12inch records "Tha Swami" (1984) and "Rappin Man" (1985) both released on William Walkers "On The Spot" label. DJ Juan G came in 2nd place at the Radiotron's Dj battle contest only beaten by his good friend Antron. Juan loaned Arabian Prince his 808 for Bobby Jimmy's Big Butt 12'' and did studio work in Compton and Los Angeles before relocating to Australia for 6 years where he did live shows at his own club with W.C., Ice Cube, and Wycleff Jean.

Z-3 MC's - Triple Threat (12'') 1985

Duke Bootee put in some amazing work following his contributions to both parts of “The Message”, most notably his production and powerful Linn drum programming for a number of Beauty & The Beat (his own label) and Profile singles. Records from the Point Blank MCs, MC Crash, K-Rob, Z-3 MC’s and the Duke himself all bore a common sound – loud drums, heavy scratching and a healthy dose of Shout Rap.

Z-3 MC’s “Triple Threat” featured DJ Cheese’s recorded debut, as these youngsters from Baltimore went for theirs with a little help from a human beatbox and a cheesy “King Tut” keyboard riff (which would have been pretty awesome at the time, I guess). “King Kut” soon followed, as New Jersey’s Word of Mouth delivered a more polished though very similar song, replacing the Egyptian tune with an off-key “London Bridge Is Falling Down” melody and focusing more on praising the work of the mighty Cheese than shutting down toy MC’s. Both of these tracks still hit hard, but I’d have to say that I prefer the lesser-known “Triple Threat” if I had to choose between the two. (According to UnKut music blog)
